Student Programming Options at SVRSS
At SVRSS, we recognize that every student’s educational journey is unique. To support a wide range of learning needs, SVRSS offers several specialized programming options both on and off campus. These programs are designed to help students succeed by offering flexible pathways to graduation, individualized support, and targeted interventions based on student needs.
Program Options Include:
Off-Campus Alternate Education (Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre): A flexible, supportive setting for students aged 16–20 working toward a high school or Mature Student Diploma, ideal for those re-engaging with school or requiring alternate schedules.
On-Campus Alternate Education: A structured, independent learning space for students needing credit recovery, focusing on core curriculum with added support.
Learning Support Classroom: A smaller, more supported environment primarily for Grade 9 and 10 students with Adapted or Modified programming, helping them transition into high school life and vocational programs.
Life Work / Individualized Programming: For students with diagnosed intellectual developmental disabilities, this program focuses on functional, individualized learning outcomes and life skill development outlined through an IEP.
Each program is tailored to meet students where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally—while maintaining Manitoba Education standards. Entry into any specialized program is based on eligibility and a collaborative review by the SVRSS Learning Support Team and administration.
