Grade 4 Virtual Field Trip Fun

We participated in a virtual field trip with Oak Hammock Marsh called What’s for Dinner? and learned about owls as apex predators in the marsh. We discovered that owls eat rodents whole, digest the meat, and then cough up the bones and fur in what is called a pellet. We then dissected the pellets and analyzed the bones to determine what the owl had eaten. It was both gross and exciting.
