We had two Envirothon teams make the long journey to Churchill to participate in the Provincial Envirothon from May 24 - 26. After arriving by plane, everyone had a bus tour of the town and stopped to see some of the local attractions. The following day, the students had to write their field test through very cold, windy conditions. It was a 3 hour test with stops at various stations along a trail. The next day involved the students working together as a team of 5 to prepare an oral presentation about climate change.
Soon after their presentations, there was an awards presentation. Our SVRSS team of Ben Logan, Hannah Thiessen, Tiana Liske, Jessica Kovichik, and Amelia Riehl received the award for the best oral presentation and received third place overall!
The team of Sydney Fedorchuk, Caitlin Stewart, Josie Black, Adria Bateman and Cailey Jones also did very well, although their final results are not known at this time.
Overall, it was an excellent learning experience and so amazing to see the beauty of The North!
