On Friday, September 22nd beginning at 9:15 am, we participated in our annual Terry Fox Run / Walk. All staff, students, parents, and community members went for a jog or brisk walk, throughout Benito.
Terry Fox ran 3,339 kms during his Marathon of Hope, and we re-enacted that on a smaller scale as we completed 3,339 step which is roughly equal to 2.3 km. Everyone was welcome to join us that morning as we started the day off on the right foot with some exercise and fresh air for a very worthy cause.
Students were asked to bring a $2 donation per family that will be put towards cancer research. A total of $133.00 was raised.
After the walk, all participants were treated to a homemade muffin baked by Mrs. Hack and some of the Gr. 3/4 class and a juice box.
Since its been 45 years since Terry's Marathon of Hope, as a special gift, Mr. Moncrief presented the 45th participant to cross the finish line with a T-Shirt. The lucky winner was Jaxson Kerr (pictured left).
